“I do not regret anything”: Tom Ford reveals everything about his life |

by

The last 15 years of his career and personal life are examined by the fashion designer, director Tom Ford in his new book “Tom Ford 002”, a continuation of his autobiography published in 2004.

Ever since stepping down as creative director at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent in 2004, Tom Ford has lived through a highly productive period involving the founding of his eponymous brand (with more than 100 stores worldwide), his writing screenwriter and director of the films “A Single Man” of 2009 and “Nocturnal Animals of 2016”. He became a father at the age of 51, when he and his husband Richard Buckley had a son through a surrogate mother in 2012. Buckley, a respected fashion journalist, died in September at the age of 72 after a long illness.

The book “Tom Ford 002” is dedicated to Richard Buckley and their son, Jack.

“The main thing when you become a father is: You no longer see the world limited in your life. You see yourself as a link in a chain. “It affects the way you think about everything,” says the American fashion designer.

His 60th birthday, on August 27, was the milestone that, as he approached, inspired him to introspect.

The designer believes, as he explained to THR, that one element – which he discussed at Q&A with journalist Bridget Foley and is included in “Tom Ford 002” is sure to hit the headlines: how he overcame his cocaine and alcohol addiction during the period which preceded the 15 years covered by the book.

“I do not regret anything, by the way, because everything in my life has been added to what I am today. “It was out of control to continue living, to be creative and definitely to be a parent, I had to stop,” he notes.

The volume includes dazzling images of Ford clothing designs and accessories, fashion editorials with top models such as Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls and Mika Arganiaraz, and his characteristic sexually charged advertising campaigns by photographers such as Inez & Vinoodh and Me.

The book “Tom Ford 002” published by Rizzoli New York and includes a foreword by Anna Windour, an introduction by Grayton Carter and a discussion with Bridget Foley was released on November 2.
