Elle Fanning Claims She’s Already Lost a Big Movie Role Because She Didn’t Have Enough Followers

by

Elle Fanning revealed the backstage of the Hollywood industry and stated that social networks are an important ally when it comes to getting a role. In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actress said that she has already lost a place in a production because she does not have a large number of followers on Instagram – currently 6.2 million accounts follow her on the platform.

“I tried, I won’t say what it was, but I didn’t get a role once for something big because – it might not have been just that reason, but that was the feedback I heard – I didn’t have enough Instagram followers at the time,” stated. “I firmly do not believe that anyone can lose a role [por isso]. It was for a big, franchise thing.”

The actress has already been nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her role in the series “The Great” (Starzplay), and has starred with Angelina Jolie in “Maléficent” (2014). Last year, she played Michelle Carter, 25, in the series “The Girl from Plainville”, which portrays a young American who was convicted of encouraging Conrad Roy’s suicide through text messages.

Despite the experience, Elle stated that she does not feel pressured to become more relevant on social media, but says she believes that this can stir young actors, who think they need to act in Marvel or DC productions.

“It does something for people, you know, but you also don’t know if it’s going to work sometimes, which is also scary,” he said. And he completed by saying that he does not rule out participating in any of these productions in the future.

“I would never say ‘no’ to these things, but I would have to have a meeting and really talk to see what it is,” he said. “There are scripts out there that I want to take a risk and produce, and they’re small, but then you should know that maybe it’s experience.”
