Comedian Léo Lins was forced to delete a comedy special from his YouTube channel this Tuesday (16). The clip, which had more than 3.3 million hits, had jokes about minorities and had its withdrawal determined after a request from the Public Ministry. The comedian himself confirmed this information.
According to him, the removal of the video should “set a dangerous precedent for comedy and art in general”. In some publications, in which Lins made a countdown to the banning of the material, he made some outbursts.
“This lawsuit has ludicrous consequences. There is much more at stake. The rationale for removing my stand-up show could basically be used to remove 95% of the comedy specials. Apart from, in my view, disproportionate requests for telling jokes on a theater stage. theater equating an artistic expression with a criminal act,” he wrote.
In another post, he said that his lawyer was already filing a defense and that he intended to make a video reporting what is happening.
According to the newspaper Gazeta do Povo, judge Gina Fonseca Correa’s decision points out that the comedian would be “reproducing speeches and positions that are now repudiated”, mentioning in his jokes themes such as slavery, religious persecution, minorities and elderly and disabled people.
In the video in question, Lins talks about a “ranking of privileges that exists in society today”. “At the base, there is the old man. On top, there is the poor Northeasterner. After him, there is the pregnant woman, who has a special seat. On top of her, there is the fat man who also has a special seat. The fat man is a pregnant woman who sits He became pregnant. (…) On top of the fat person is the disabled person who has a seat, does not queue. The proof of this is that an old man from the Northeast, fat and disabled, became president”, he says, in an excerpt that remains available on social networks. .
MORE CONTROVERSIAL
Lins, in 2020, apologized to his then-girlfriend, Aline Mineiro, for making fun of autistic people. “To the people who came politely, to the autistic family members, to the autistic ones, I’m sorry. To the people who came aggressively, the digital torturers, to the people who demanded an apology for their ego, I suggest therapy”, he spoke in September to retract.
The comedian has also been accused of fatphobia by model Bia Gremion, who filed a police report against him. It all started when Lins published a photo of her in lingerie hugging her boyfriend, photographer Lorenzo Magnaboschi, with an inscription of the phrase “it’s ok to be bigger than your partner”. In the caption, he wrote: “Did I get your attention? Good, scroll to the side”. On the side, he gave information about his stand-up show.
In 2021, after making jokes about the weight of plus size dancer Thais Carla, Lins lost a lawsuit against her in the first instance. The comedian even made another video to give his version of the case and used more jokes against fat people.
With almost 2 million followers on Instagram and more than 1 million on YouTube, Léo became nationally known by participating in The Noite (SBT). The carioca, who calls himself the King of Black Humor, began his artistic life behind the camera, as an editor for Legendários (RecordTV).
