Globo tells Justice that harassment by Marcius Melhem has not been proven, reveals document

The harassment allegedly committed by Marcius Melhem has not been proven. This is what Globo’s Compliance points out in response to a lawsuit by the Public Ministry of Labor of Rio de Janeiro (MPT-RJ), which makes the company defendant, accusing it of allegedly allowing cases of harassment in the workplace, in the last years. The broadcaster’s position is part of a 2,500-page process that was obtained by Veja magazine and released this Wednesday (17).

Based on information provided against and in favor of Melhem, Globo’s Compliance would have concluded – according to the document – that: “the artist’s inadequacy with his subordinates was, in fact, verified, without it being possible to prove deliberate practice of sexual harassment , given the legal contours that the conduct requires for its characterization”.

“Globo does not comment on compliance-related issues, all information about the case has already been provided to the authorities”, informed Globo’s advisory to the F5. The broadcaster’s defense lawyers, which is being represented by Tenório da Veiga Advogados, did not respond to the report’s request for positioning.

In relation to the process as a whole, the MPT advisory states that the case is under secrecy. “We don’t have any information about it,” added the press representative.

Marcius Melhem, who was accused of harassment by a group of eight women at the Public Ministry for Women, responded to the request for a position through his press office. “Globo’s statement in the Veja article is not surprising, as something that never existed can be proven. More and more what I said from the beginning is confirmed: I never committed sexual harassment. The truth keeps coming out”, he said, in note. Dani Calabresa and her lawyer, Mayra Cotta, who also represents the other alleged victims, did not respond to F5’s request for a position.
