Tabet, Gentili and more comedians criticize Justice censorship of Léo Lins video

by

After the censorship of Léo Lins’ comedy special, Fábio Porchat was not the only one to express his opinion on the networks this Wednesday (17). Among the comedians, the majority came out in defense of the comedian and against the decision of the Public Ministry.

The founder of the Porta dos Fundos channel, Antonio Tabet, said it was “absurd” to censor humor. “It’s not up to the Justice — or anyone else — to approve or censor other people’s jokes. One can like, hate or criticize comedy, but jokes are just jokes. Jokes don’t kill more than dramas, journalism, advertising or reality.”

Another comedian, Oscar Filho, chose the decision as “the greatest absurdity” he has ever seen in comedy. “Does this have precedent? The biggest absurdity I’ve seen in comedy since the CQC being barred from Congress and the ban on jokes with politicians.”

Danilo Gentili ironically responded to a comment by Porchat that said “how crazy”, about the measure. “Political correctness is a good, good thing, as you yourself said a few times”, ironized the presenter.

Fábio Rabin also judged the decision as absurd: “Art is subjective. This is censorship. He also denies that the discussion is political: “the whole bullshit is to ban a joke. Soon he will ban a Rap, then an advertisement for his ‘job’, and so on”.

Outside the world of humor, however, opinions regarding the decision were divided on the networks. Journalist William De Lucca defended the regulation of hate crimes by law: “There is a law that regulates what is hate speech, sexism, racism, misogyny, xenophobia, intolerance. There is no law to censor jokes, poetry, books, lectures, but whatever is spoken is under the yoke of the law”.

Matheus Caseca, from the Twitter account @odontinho, quoted a speech by Léo Lins to criticize Porchat’s opinion: “black people cannot find a job, but in the era of slavery they were born employed and also thought it was bad”. “This is the type of ‘humor’ that Fábio Porchat thinks it’s a shame to be removed from the air and prohibited from doing”, wrote the internet user.
