He died Andy Rourke, the bassist of the legendary The Smiths, at the age of 59. Guitarist Johnny Marr announced the news of his death on social media:

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Andy Rourke after a long illness with pancreatic cancer. Andy will be remembered by those who knew him as a kind and beautiful soul and by music lovers as an extremely gifted musician».

Andy Rourke played on the band’s big hits like ‘This Charming Man’, ‘There Is a Light That Never Goes Out’, as well as solo songs for Morrissey after the band broke up. He also collaborated with Sinead O’Connor, The Pretenders, Ian Brown, Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries and others.
