The “ancient thermophores” are on display in the “Altar Hall”, of the National Archaeological Museum, from Tuesday 23 May to Monday 31 July
The Invisible Museum is his successful action National Archaeological Museum which showcases selected antiquities from the world of warehouses.
After dozens of wonderful objects presented so far, the Invisible Museum welcomes them “ancient thermophores”. It is a set of clay vessels for therapeutic use, dating from the end of the 3rd to the 1st century. e.g. and they come from Athens, Chalkida, Tanagra and other regions. These objects, which for years were characterized as ordinary flasks, were recognized as the paraphernalia of doctors, athletes and pharmacists of antiquity. The strange shapes and the special way of making them made them suitable for the relief of various ailments in different parts of the body. The “ancient thermophores” are presented in the “Hall of the Altar” (no. 34) by Tuesday 23 May to Monday 31 July 2023.
At 11 and 25 Juneon Sunday 9 and 23 July, as well as on 7 and 28 June and on Wednesday 5 July, at 1:00 p.m., archaeologists from the Museum welcome visitors to the exhibition area and talk to them about the ancient healers, the methods and secrets of ancient healing, from prehistoric times to the end of antiquity.
