Margot Robbie revealed that the actress originally intended to play Barbie was another. The famous actress said that initially the people in charge had thought about her role Gal Gadot.
The 38-year-old ‘Wonder Woman’ was actually the film’s director’s first choice to play the iconic character, before the role eventually went to the Australian actress. Robbie, who is also a producer on the upcoming film, said in a new interview with Vogue that she and Gerwig were looking for someone with a “Barbie energy” and thought Gadot was perfect for the role.

“Gal Gadot is the energy of Barbie,” said Margot Robbie. However, Gadot, due to her other commitments, could not “commit” to the role, so Robbie took over to star in the film.

Amy Schumer was originally announced to star in Sony’s 2016 Barbie film, though four months later in March 2017, the actress confirmed that she would no longer be starring in the film.
