When we talk about Arta, our mind goes to the historic bridge, rivers, mountains and the continental architecture – certainly not to sea, port and fishing boats.

And yet, Arta also has an island!

Koronesia is a village of the Regional Unit of Arta in the Amvrakiko gulf, with 167 permanent residents. It is about 25 kilometers from the city of Arta and is located on the small island of Pera Nissi, which is known collectively as Koronesia.

The islet of Amvrakikos is joined by a narrow strip of land to Epirus, which divides in the middle into the lagoons-water habitats of Logaros and Tsoukalios.

A walk in the enchanting landscape of Koronesia is a must if you find yourself in Arta. It may not have beaches for swimming but the peace and tranquility of the place will compensate you.

Also, in the small port settlement of the island, you will take a walk and eat lukulleia in the several fish taverns.

Starting from Koronisia, the visitor has the opportunity to visit the Tsoukalio, Logarou and Rodia lagoons.

The rare and endangered silver pelican nests in Tsoukalio.

Also, don’t miss a stop in the village of Aneza, which ecological organizations call “the village of storks”. It is located at a distance of 16 kilometers from Koronesia and there you can see their large nests.
