Valletta is the capital of Malta and is reminiscent of a city from another era. It takes a couple of hours to walk through it from the city gates to the edge of the sea. Here you will see many beautiful churches and temples, the Barrakka Gardens, which offer stunning views of the neighboring towns and the military fort of Saint Elmo.

You will also notice the famous Maltese balconies in every house and an atmosphere of absolute calm, since the Maltese are never in a hurry. As you wander through the streets, you will find many small restaurants and cafes, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy the cuisine of the island with fresh products.

Mdina was also called “Silent City”. It is a very small town and is the former capital of the island. Today the population is only 400 people and it has only one hotel for visitors. In the city you will find monasteries, churches, museums and squares.

When you walk inside the castle walls, you will feel like you are in the Middle Ages. The view you will see of the whole city is amazing and definitely worth a walk. Any Maltese will tell you that you should definitely go to Mdina.

Also known for its nightlife is St. Julian’s. It is the center of all entertainment in Malta, from discos, bars and clubs to restaurants and casinos. Impressive is the Dragonara casino, which is located in the homonymous palace. However, the most interesting part of the area is Paceville.

In fact, it is a narrow road, leading from the town to the beach, and is the most popular part of the island among young people. In the summer, weekday and weekend laws don’t apply here, any night you decide to go out will be packed with people.

You can swim in Malta almost everywhere. The water is clean even in the most crowded places and the Mediterranean Sea is quite calm. The problem will arise only for those who love sandy beaches, as most of them are rocky. Beaches like Melliha, Paradise and Jnana are beautiful but Golden Bay is the one that will win over even the most demanding visitor.

Golden Bay is enchanting not only for the place and the activities it offers, but also because barbeques are often organized. Also, one of the nicest places to swim is the Blue Grotto. The boats will take you to the caves and there you will have the opportunity to relax in the truly sparkling blue waters. If you have seen the movie “Troy” with Brad Pitt you will definitely recognize the place.

If night is the time to visit Paceville and St. Julian’s, then Sunday morning is definitely Marsaxlokk village time. The village is the fishing center of the island and the place offers relaxation from the first glance. There is one of the largest bays on the island here as well as many Maltese blue, red and yellow boats.

On the boats are painted the “eyes of Osiris”, the Egyptian god of the underworld, which, according to legend, protect sailors from danger. In the area there is also a local bazaar with various souvenirs and a fish market, which is open on Sundays.

The most important thing however is to sit in one of the restaurants and taste the fresh seafood and fish overlooking the bay.
