A friend of actor Jefferson Machado, 44, found dead on Monday (22) after four months of disappearance, is named by the Rio de Janeiro police as one of the suspects in the murder, according to a report shown by Fantástico this Sunday (28).
Bruno de Souza Rodrigues is a former employee of Globo. According to Fantástico, he worked at the company until 2018, when he was fired. Globo reported that it provided the police with all the details about the dismissal.
Jeff was found inside a concrete trunk two meters deep on the floor of a house in Campo Grande, a neighborhood on the west side of Rio.
Nine men, some with jackhammers, pickaxes and shovels, worked to get the body removed.
The police are investigating the possibility that the actor was deceived with the promise of working in a soap opera. His mother, Maria das Dores Machado, told Fantástico that her son spent BRL 12,000 to achieve this goal.
“You have a dream that is so strong inside you that the impression is that you are blind to reality,” he said.
Bruno Rodrigues’ defense stated that it awaits the progress of the investigations and stated that the possibilities for what happened have not yet been ruled out.
According to the actor’s family lawyer, Jairo Magalhães, the suspect has the victim’s bank cards and the bank accounts continued to be used after Jeff disappeared in January of this year. About R$ 5 thousand would have been withdrawn.
Another clue is related to where the body was found. The investigation points out that the property, 20 km from the house where Jeff lived, was sublet by Bruno a month before the disappearance.
According to the police, it was Bruno who registered the disappearance and had the keys to Jeff’s house and car, under the allegation that the actor would do a job in São Paulo.
The supposed trip to São Paulo was one of the reasons for Maria das Dores’ distrust. In an exchange of messages, the person pretending to be her son said that she would leave the eight setters with a couple of friends while she was away.
The actor’s mother found the information strange, because of Jeff’s attachment to animals. She was also suspicious of the vocabulary used in the messages and the fact that her son no longer called the family – he used to speak daily with Maria das Dores by phone, telling details of everyday life and talking about the dogs.
The fundamental point for the investigation was the abandonment of the dogs, which were always very well treated. They were found wandering around different neighborhoods in the city.
The animal identification chip was important for the police’s work.
Maria das Dores lives in Santa Catarina and went to Rio on Wednesday (24th), after the police confirmed that the body found was Jeff’s.
The actor was buried on Saturday (27), at the Cruz das Almas Cemetery, in Araranguá, in the south of Santa Catarina.
“A mother taking a trip to look for a son who was murdered with so much malice, with so much cruelty”, lamented Maria das Dores to Fantástico. “Rio Police, help me as soon as possible to arrest these murderers”, she asked.
