“The local is universal, the collective the only counter-power.” Concert, festival, artistic partnership, political position. Two communities, two collectives, two historical collectives. Master figures are authoritative representations. Hainides and Social Waste, operating directly democratically, create modern song and not sterile imitations (or “modern” re-performances) against the emotional blackmail and sloganeering of the times.

Rhythms, timbres, instruments from the Mediterranean, the Balkans and beyond, intertwine and swirl in a mystagogic ecstatic action, June 17 in the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens.

The Haines

The music group Hainides is an open ensemble, discovering musical paths from Crete to Asia Minor and from the East back to the Balkans. Following musical paths, the Haines dare and create new musics and discourses that present the exuberant lust of life, the sense of the beautiful or the lost. Love and death, the supreme forces, are captured in measure and define “…all that you have seen and desired and that you will never see”. At first hearing, the word becomes an image and is revolutionaryly imposed on “spectators” technocrats. The songs of the Chainids exude boldness, they are courageous, in a time when the truth is on the sidelines. In the lyrics the listener will find his truth and perhaps this truth will give duration to the band, which completes 33 years of presence.
