The Military Police arrested early this Thursday morning (15) producer Bruno de Souza Rodrigues, suspected of killing actor Jeff Machado and who was on the run. The other suspect, the prostitute Jeander Vinícius, had already been arrested by the Civil Police.
Rodrigues was found in a building on Morro do Vidigal, between the neighborhoods of Leblon and São Conrado, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. He offered no resistance, but, according to TV Globo, there were suitcases inside the apartment and he was getting ready to leave.
Police tracked down the suspect after receiving an anonymous tip. Officers were conducting an operation in the region.
The two suspects had already been indicted for triple murder and concealment of a corpse. Jeff’s corpse was found in a trunk, hidden and concreted on the ground of a rented house, in Campo Grande, in the west of the city.
In a press conference, Bruno Rodrigues’ defense even spoke of the innocence of the TV producer and former Globo employee, but admitted his participation in the concealment of the artist’s body.
The lawyers also cited the presence of a third person at the scene of the crime – this person, according to the statement given by Bruno to the police, would be the actor’s killer. The version is contested by the police and lawyers for Machado’s family.
