The 115 years of Japanese immigration to Brazil, celebrated this Sunday (18), were honored by Sabrina Sato with memories of her ancestors.
In a long post on social networks, she said that her grandfather, Sadao Sato, came to Brazil at the age of 5, by ship, with his family, who were looking for a better future.
“And here nothing was easy. She worked hard since she was a child in the fields and in her adolescence she started sewing”, said the presenter.
A tailor, Sadao worked together with Sabrina’s grandmother, seamstress Luiza, so that their daughters could study.
In the tribute, Sabrina published photos of the Japanese community in Brazil and recalled that her great-grandparents and grandfather were part of this story.
“Their trajectory fills me with pride and gratitude. I love my roots and characteristics that go far beyond my slanted eyes and all the teachings that were passed on to me”.
Sabrina recalled growing up in a home where Japanese culture was alive. She listened to memories about Japan and learned about the habits and customs of her ancestors.
“I have great admiration and deep respect for everything related to Japan and feel very honored to be descended from these people,” she said.
Sabrina’s mother, Kika Sato Rahal, also spoke about the origin of the family. “Very proud of our life path,” she said.
“Vô Sato and Vó Luiza, much love and respect for them and for the history they lived”, added businesswoman Karina Sato Rahal, Sabrina’s sister.
