The promotion of hitherto unknown areas of our country has created a strong interest among Spaniards to visit Greece.

As pointed out in an event held in Madrid with the aim of promoting the Region of Central Macedonia as a tourist destination for the whole year, the number of Spanish tourists who visited Greece in 2022 exceeds by 20% the corresponding number in 2019.

The event, organized by the Region of Central Macedonia and the Halkidiki Tourism Organization, was attended by journalists, media representatives, travel agents and travel agencies, as well as business associations of the tourism industry, who had the opportunity to try some of the most unique flavors of Greek gastronomy, such as dolmadakia, moussaka or traditional spinach pies.

The event was held under the auspices of the Greek Embassy in Madrid and with the support of the Hellenic Tourism Organization and the Hellenic-Spanish Chamber of Commerce.

Leonidas Tsiandis, responsible for the Tourism Planning and Coordination sector of Central Macedonia, underlined, among other things, that the Region, surrounded by an impressive coastline, has the highest mountain peaks, so it is a privileged place for activities such as skiing, climbing, hiking, horse riding and has established itself as a destination for lifestyle and wine tourism.

One of the regions in which the number of Spanish tourists has grown significantly is Halkidiki. The Director of the Chalkidiki Tourism Office, Giorgos Brutzas, referred to the uniquely beautiful Mediterranean forests, its beaches with transparent water, as well as its pleasant temperature all year round.
