The “toxic” influencer, Andrew Tateand his brother Tristan are to be tried in Romania on charges of human trafficking and the establishment of a criminal organization. The Tate brothers and two Romanian suspects are under house arrest as part of an investigation into the allegations made by seven women.

All four are accused of human trafficking offenses and of forming an organized criminal group. Andrew Tate is also accused of raping one of the victims, while his brother Tristan is accused of abetting others in violence.

They deny the accusations. Romanian prosecutors agreed on Tuesday 20 June 2023 to send all four suspects to trial. A trial date has not yet been set. Under Romanian law, the case must first be sent to the preliminary division of the court, where the judge has 60 days to review the case files.

In a statement, Romania’s Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigation Directorate revealed that authorities had seized more than $384 million worth of Bitcoin belonging to the brothers. They also revealed that authorities had seized 15 buildings and land, 15 luxury cars, 14 luxury watches and a medal as part of their investigation.

Andrew Tate, based mainly in Romania since 2017, is an online influencer who has amassed a million followers, mostly young men. The former professional kickboxer and his brother were taken into custody on December 29 last year, but were released and have been under house arrest since March.
