• Concert with the ERT National Orchestra in Herodeion

As every year, this year too, the ERT National Orchestra and the Athens Epidaurus Festival they celebrate her World music Day organizing a big concert, at the Herod Atticus Conservatory. In the first movement, the orchestra will perform Camille Saint-Saëns’ delightful Carnival of the Animals, with references to Mendelssohn, Berlioz and Offenbach, which was based on humorous improvisations that his students urged him to record. In the second part, the Frenchman Thierry Pekou converses with Dionysis Savvopoulos’s Zeibekiko, creating a nightmarish orchestral background with references to the work of Xenakis, while in the third and final part, the orchestra closes euphorically performing two suites from Bizet’s Carmen. Conducted by the Greek-French conductor Dionysios Dervis-Bournias and performed on the piano by Katia and Mariel Labek, the leading piano duo for half a century.
