• The Waterboys for the first time in Herodion

The Waterboys have a special relationship with the Greek audience and once again return this year, bringing for the first time their energy, their “ancient soul”, their melodiousness and lyricism to the Herodes Atticus Conservatory, as part of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival 2023. Created in Edinburgh in 1983 by Mike Scott, and their story is intertwined with his own musical career. It is identified with the musical pursuits of this inspired Scotsman, who is the lyrical and compositional soul of the band, the guiding force for all the changes in style and musical character that the group went through. A band that, with its torrential lyricism, gave birth to the term Big Music – a trend that remains relevant to this day. Today, Mike Scott himself will be playing music under the rock of the Acropolis and he invites us all to a Dionysian musical feast, in which he will present tracks from throughout the Waterboys’ career.
