Its pioneers sludge rock Melvinsone of the most iconic American bands of all time, with 40 years of continuous presence on the music scene, are coming to Athens to give us the most important live show of the summer, Monday, July 3 in Technopolis Municipality of Athens.

The Melvins are one of the most influential bands in modern music. Formed in 1983 led by singer/guitarist Buzz Osborne and based in Montesano, Washington. They combine, with great mastery, punk rock and heavy music, creating a distinct, new subgenre. They belong to the school of musicians who do not limit their sound and dare, with comfort and success, to move in various genres, such as grunge, stoner, sludge, doom metal, hardcore punk and alternative rock.

During the almost 40-year history of the band, with mainstays Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover, to date, the Melvins have released over 25 albums, numerous Ep’s, live albums, singles and rare tracks. They have paved the way and been a source of inspiration for most bands in the Seattle grunge scene, such as Nirvana, Soundgarden and Mudhoney. It is worth noting that the Melvins were one of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain’s favorite bands, while Tool’s Adam Jones, a lifelong fan of the Melvins, described them, in an interview in 1994, as the inventors of grunge.
