The trial of Hollywood star Kevin Spacey has begun in London for 12 sexual offenses against four men dating back 22 years. The 63-year-old actor arrived at Southwark Crown Court in a black taxi, wearing a dark blue suit with a light blue shirt and pink tie.

After getting out of the taxi, Kevin Spacey said “good morning” to reporters and everyone gathered outside the courthouse. According to the indictment, Spacey allegedly touched one of the victims’ genitals over clothing. Three indecent assaults and four sexual assaults dated between 2001 and 2004while five more offenses concern the years between 2005 and 2013.

Spacey spoke only to confirm his name (Kevin Spacey Fowler) inside the courtroom when he appeared before Judge Wall.

The judge stated: “There is obviously a lot of press interest in this case and I remind anyone who reports on them restrictions that exist regarding the names of the victims». Patrick Gibbs, defending the Hollywood star, discussed the jury selection process with the judge.

Potential jurors will be given a questionnaire to complete before being called to the case. The panel of 14 jurors is selected from a panel of jurors.

Last November, Spacey was charged with seven additional felonies – three counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault and one charge of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent – against a fourth man between 2001 and 2005. He pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing in January.

THE Spacey was Artistic Director of the Old Vic Theater in London between 2004 and 2015. He grew up in California but lived in London for more than a decade, previously saying the city had become his home. He now lives in Baltimore, USA.

The actor has won two Oscars – for his role in ‘The Usual Suspects’ in 1996 and the Best Actor award in 2000 for ‘American Beauty’. In recent years, he was best known for his role in the Netflix series ‘House of Cards’. He also appeared in the films ‘Seven’, ‘LA Confidential’ and ‘Baby Driver’.
