Robert Downey Jr mentioned the two most important films of his recent career. The New York-born actor is now one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, perhaps most famous for his portrayal of Tony Stark in 2008’s Iron Man. Downey J. has reprized the role in nine more Marvel Cinematic Universe films, most recently in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

It is therefore surprising that Robert Downey J. he called two other films the most important he has made in the last 25 years. In a recent interview with the New York Times, the actor said that the 2006 family comedy “The Shaggy Dog” and the 2020 fantasy adventure “Dolittle” are the two most important films in which he starred.

“I completed the Marvel contract and then rushed into what was expected to be a big, fun, ‘Dolittle’ franchise,” Downey Jr., 58, said. “I had some reservations. My team and I were very excited about the deal. At that point I was bulletproof. I was the guru of all kinds of movies,” noted the actor.

“Honestly, the two most important movies I’ve done in the last 25 years are ‘The Shaggy Dog,’ because that was the movie that made Disney say they were going to insure me. “The second most important film was ‘Dolittle,'” said Robert Downey Jr.

When the movie “Dolittle” was released in January 2020 it did not do well and the actor saw very negative reviews. Despite the fantasy adventure’s commercial failure, the actor still considers the film, which he co-produced with his wife, Susan Downey, under Team Downey Productions, a landmark film project because it changed his priorities.
