NATO allies will come clean at the NATO summit in Vilnius in what way Ukraine will be able to join the Alliance in the future, the Secretary General of the Alliance said on Tuesday Jens Stoltenberg.

“I expect the allies to send a clear, unified and positive message towards integration (to the Alliance) of Ukraine,” he said as he arrived for the start of the NATO summit.

As Stoltenberg added, NATO has seen no change in Russia’s position on nuclear, despite Moscow’s announcement that it is installing nuclear weapons in Belarus.

“Russia’s Nuclear Rhetoric she is bold and dangerous. NATO allies are keeping a close eye on what Russia is doing. So far we have not seen any changes in Russia’s position on the nuclear installation that would require any change on our part, but we will remain vigilant,” Stoltenberg noted before the summit began.

Bilateral security guarantees for Ukraine will complement decisions on the country’s future NATO membership to be made at the Alliance’s summit in Vilnius, the NATO chief added.

“Some allies are conducting bilateral and multilateral dialogue with Ukraine in the context of continuing support for Ukraine (…). This will complement the decisions to be taken at the NATO summit,” he concluded.

Earlier, however, the United States appeared to “land” him Volodymyr Zelenskywho engages in diplomatic efforts to set a timetable for Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

NATO will carve “reform road” for Ukraine so that it can join the Atlantic Alliance, but without a “schedule”, the White House national security adviser clarified today Jake Sullivan.

Sullivan ruled out any immediate membership of Ukraine in NATO because of Moscow’s attack, warning that this “will lead NATO to war with Russia”.
