And the nostalgic wave doesn’t stop. Waiting for the premiere of the Barbie movie and with 1980s icons returning to the scene in productions that recall the beginnings of Balão Mágico and the life of Xuxa, behold, Apple TV+ announces its investment in this vein. The focus is on the fashion world.
This world was largely dominated by Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington in the 1990s. It was just them and, to remember the path traced by the quartet towards the top, the streaming platform launches “The Supermodels” in September ).
The series, directed by Oscar winner Roger Ross Williams (for “Music by Prudence”) and Larissa Bills,
aims to show, from the beginning, how four women from different corners of the world came together in New York in the 1980s to become fashion icons and designer muses. The link between them alone changed the power dynamics of an entire market.
In a press release, Apple TV+ claims to have had “unprecedented access to the models” and says that the documentary series goes far beyond the catwalks, without leaving behind the scenes and details from the beginning of the models’ careers to the present time. Check out the first teaser released:
