The Lake, by Robert Walzer from Giselle Wien in Piraeus 260
The great creator Giselle Wien delivers to the audience of the Athens Epidaurus Festival 2023 a riveting work, based on the short play “Der Teich” (The Lake) by Robert Walzer, which deals with a timeless human issue: the family and its traumas. The lake is the story of a child who feels rejected by his family and at the height of his despair, stages his suicide. Giselle Wien creates a powerful psychological drama by “illuminating” with her direction Walzer’s disturbing allusions to childhood abuse, incest and family trauma. The performance unfolds in a universe of electronic music and hypnotic lighting, which bring to the surface repressed impulses and emotions.

Elektra, directed by Lillys Melemé at the Petras Theatre
“Electra” by Sophocles, directed by Lillys Melemé and with Lena Papaligoura in the title role, continues its summer tour throughout Greece and stops tonight in Petroupoli. A universe drowning in corruption and injustice. An anti-heroic world where everything has been turned upside down and the order of things has been dangerously disrupted. In this world, Elektra chooses to be the only cell of living consciousness that will not cease to denounce immorality and hypocrisy in perpetuity. Her voice is a brave and dynamic act of active resistance that constantly disturbs and incessantly reminds of the need to redress the horrible injustice.

Release Athens 2023: Arctic Monkeys in Water Square
Arctic Monkeys returned to Athens, four years after their last concert, as the headliners of the Release Festival – with their second appearance today, after the first one was immediately sold out. With countless hits and great live appearances – among them the one in Malakasa in 2018 – to their credit, Arctic Monkeys came to Athens, with a brand new record in their luggage, the masterpiece The Car, which is in a way the continuation (or rather the evolution) of their latest album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. With them, the explosive The Hives, in their first appearance in Greece, and the special Willie J Healey.
