One of the most anticipated parts of “Xuxa, the Documentary” is the meeting between the Queen of Baixinhos and Marlene Mattos, her former manager, which is scheduled to be shown in the fifth and final episode of the documentary series in August. On Sunday with Huck this Sunday (23), alongside Pedro Bial and his daughter, Sasha, Xuxa spoke more about the reunion. “It was disappointing,” she said.
“Marlene is very fair, not the witch she was”, says Xuxa about the former businesswoman’s participation in the documentary series.
She says that Marlene, in the beginning, was a sweet, loving and helpful person. “After a few years, she became what she became. A person who took away my freedom to walk, talk, do and everything else,” she explains. “I wanted to make one thing clear: people change. I’ve changed a lot since the beginning. If there’s a person today who tells me what he said, I wouldn’t accept it, I won’t accept it.”
“But I saw a person who hasn’t changed,” he adds. “I would like that, when I sat down there, she would say: ‘man, I’m sorry’. She even told Pedro [Bial] I wasn’t going to apologize, but I wanted her to say it somehow. Maybe with the look, somehow. Or say ‘I’ve changed’.”
“It was tense,” said Bial, who is the director of the documentary. “Marlene built a fortress around Xuxa, but that fortress, over time, turned into a prison. I think Xuxa had the greatness to meet Marlene again.”
In the scene shown on Domingão, Xuxa says: “I can’t say everything about Marlene, because, if not, they will want to arrest Marlene”. To which the businesswoman replies: “you can talk. Your fans already see me like this. I don’t care”.
After the scene, Luciano Huck commented that it was very difficult to watch Xuxa meet Marlene, because he also had a very intense relationship with the businesswoman. “When I arrived at Globo in 2000, the two people who welcomed me were Xuxa and Marlene. So, I am grateful for Marlene, but I understand everything you said there in the interview”, said Huck.

For 19 years, Marlene Mattos was the one who organized her entire career and, according to Xuxa, her personal life as well. The two broke off their friendship and professional relationship and met again for the first time for the documentary.
Xuxa and Sasha also talk about unpublished images of childbirth
For the documentary, the team also found unpublished scenes of her birth that will be shown in the Globoplay production. “It was exciting to watch with her. The most exciting thing was to see her reaction, the desperation there at the moment of not having me in her lap as quickly as she expected, since it took me a little while to cry”, said Sasha on Sunday.
“To also hear from her what she felt at that moment. We always joke that it’s rare to see my mother cry. So, her getting emotional with the images and me getting emotional with her. It was a very beautiful moment and I am eternally grateful to you [Bial] for having found all this and having provided this moment together. It was very special”, added Xuxa’s daughter.
The Queen of Shorts then spoke about how motherhood changed her view of privacy and made her want to have more autonomy over her own life.
“I always thought that the way I was leading my life was okay. People leading me and I letting myself be led by people. When I became a mother, I started to see the world in a different way. I wanted her to be proud of me. I said: ‘I don’t want her to see her mother being guided by others, like a puppet…’, then my mind changed a lot.”
