An 83-year-old man who sold a mansion to Katy Perry decided to sue the singer. That’s because he regretted signing the contract and claimed he would have completed the deal under the influence of strong medicine.
According to the New York Post, the six-bedroom, 12-bathroom California mansion was sold to Perry and Orlando Bloom in 2020. The senior says his age, health issues from Huntington’s disease and a major six-hour surgery held less than a week before the proposed contract would have been the reasons for him to sign the document with impaired mental faculties.
But Perry and Bloom’s lawyers warned that both were not willing to cancel the deal, as they would have paid more than the house was worth. Now the case has gone to court.
The mansion was purchased for US$ 14.2 million (more than R$ 68 million at current prices). The property was built in the 1930s and consists of four complexes on three floors and faces the sea, according to the architecture and decoration website House & Home.
The living room includes five sets of French doors that open onto a large outdoor terrace. One of the doors leads to a separate space. There is a fireplace and a small bar, which transform the place into an entertainment center.
The master bedroom takes up more than half of the upstairs and includes a fireplace, sitting area, double baths and two walk-in closets.
