In the… turn, actor Timothy Olyphant lost the role of Captain Kirk in JJ Abrams’ “Star Trek” trilogy.

Speaking on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Oliphant revealed that he auditioned for the role of Captain James T. Kirk for the “Star Trek” trilogy and could have gotten the role if it weren’t for Chris Pine. .

“This is what I can tell you about ‘Star Trek’: I went and didn’t audition for Captain Kirk, but I remember reading the role to Abrams, and I have to say, he’s a wonderful, wonderful guy. And my experience was great, a great audition process,” said the actor. “Somewhere in there, I was auditioning for the Doctor (Dr. Leonard McCoy) and he’s like, ‘I already have a guy for the Doctor, so I don’t need you for that, but I haven’t found Kirk yet.'”

Oliphant explained that although he was aware that Abrams was looking for a younger actor for the role, he was the preferred one as there had been no serious nominations until then.

“I think they were ready to hire me, but they wanted someone younger and they were having a hard time finding one. At one point, Jay Jay called me and said, ‘I found a guy, younger, who’s really good.'” And of course that was Chris Pine

Still, Oliphant isn’t bitter about losing the role to Pine because he’s his friend.

“I know Chris Pine and I’m a big fan of him both on and off screen. I love this guy,” she said.
