An evening of opera will have the opportunity to enjoy those who are on Monday night in Aristotelous Square. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas, the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki and the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Thessaloniki celebrate the anniversary and organize an open concert in the heart of Thessaloniki.
Music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy a rich opera gala, with the leading Greek soprano Myrto Papathanasiouwho has appeared in the world’s largest opera houses and has been honored with the “Maria Kallas – Best Debut Artist of the Year” award, as well as the great Greek chief musician Louka Karytinos, current Director of the Athens State Orchestra and one of the most skilled Greek conductors in the operatic repertoire. The program includes works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Puccini, Gounod, Verdi, Mascani and Strauss.
The 100th anniversary of Maria Callas is celebrated all over the world with a multitude of activities, while it has also been included in the list of commemorating anniversaries and Unesco, for 2023.
