Her Thursday, September 7 at 19.00the Agora of Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) will welcome the students of the five Music Schools of Attica, who will present, in a big closing concert, the result of the “1st Meeting of Music Schools” initiative. This initiative will take place, in collaboration with the National Opera, from September 3 to 7, at the SNFCC facilities. As part of this, the students of the Music Schools of Athens, Alimos, Ilios, Pallini and Piraeus will attend a series of courses, in traditional and symphonic music, by renowned professional musicians. On the final day, the children, along with their teachers, will act, sing and dance in an inspiring and creative event that aims to become an annual event.

The “1st Meeting of Music Schools” and the concert are held with free entry thanks to the donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

Symphonic Music

The students will be under the artistic guidance of the members of the orchestra of the National Opera Alexis Theofylaktos, Nikolas Kavakos, Konstantinos Nikas, Marinos Tranoudakis and Giorgos Farougias. They will also rehearse and collaborate in the concert with the Athenian Youth Symphony Orchestra – ASON.

Traditional music

The students who will participate in the traditional music classes will create three groups which will deal with: the first group with the tradition of the Aegean islands and Asia Minor, the second, with the tradition of Macedonia and Thrace and the third, with the tradition of Epirus and Thessaly.

The main axis of the seminar and the final concert will be the connection of music, song and dance. The students will attend lessons and will participate in the final concert with: Avgerini Gatsis, Kyriakos Gouvendas, Katerina Doukas, Giorgos Kontogiannis, Martha Mavroidis, Dimitris Brenda.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is an international, environmentally sustainable public space for expression, culture and entertainment created with the initiative and exclusive donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
