After ‘Friends’, Jennifer Aniston created her own production company and became a key player in Hollywood

Being an actor and producer has become a fever in Hollywood, as is the case with Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. However, before most of them, Jennifer Aniston already played both roles. Without disclosing so much the business side, the star of “Friends” became, at the same time, a success on the big screen and a key player in the film industry.

In 2008, Jennifer and Kristin Hahn launched the production company Echo Films, responsible for successful films at the time, such as “Coincidences in Love”, and today, such as “Mystery in the Mediterranean” and the series “The Morning Show” (Apple TV+) . All are produced and starred by the actress.

Before creating her own company, Jennifer was a partner at Plan B Entertainment, created together with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, when the two were still married. The company has produced films such as the Academy Award-winning “12 Years a Slave.”

The actress told The Wall Street Journal Magazine that, at first, her deal with Hahn was not well received: “It was a male-dominated environment and it was like, ‘Oh, aren’t you two cute?’ However, she defended always keeping the posture to get what you want.

“There was a moment in my world, in my career, when I realized that you don’t have to be aggressive, combative, mean or emotional in standing up for what you deserve and what you want,” she says. “It’s a hard muscle to develop. And also to be loved and respected. It’s hard to achieve.”

Consolidated in Hollywood, even without having entered the superhero circuit or conquered roles as lasting as “Friends”, she said that, now, she is ready to exercise an even more hands-on involvement in her work as a producer than in any other another moment of his career.
