Ryan Reynolds may be from Vancouver, but he gets recognition in Ottawa.
The Canadian actor will have a street in the Canadian capital, which will bear his name.
Ryan Reynolds grew up in Vancouver’s Chicago neighborhood, but spent part of his youth in the Vanier area of Ottawa.
“It is clear that Ottawa has a special place in Ryan’s heart,” said City Mayor Jim Watson during the announcement that the street would be named after him.
Watson said that Reynolds thanked the municipal authority and stressed that the decision is very important for him and his family.
Last year, Ryan Reynolds was honored with the award of Governor General of Canada along with Kathryn O’Hara.
The actor also joked on Twitter that he has now changed his daughter’s name to “Ottawa”.
Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively have made several donations to NGOs in Canada and the United States, including the Ottawa Food Bank.
It’s clear that Ottawa has a special place in Ryan’s heart – and in his honour, I’ll be bringing forward a motion later today to have a street named after him.
