Galvão Bueno says he felt like a ‘fish out of water’ for not narrating Brazil’s game

Retired since the end of the World Cup in Qatar, in December 2022, Galvão Bueno vented before the match between Bolivia and Brazil this Friday (8). A former Globo employee said he thought he had been left out of a decisive sports narration of the Brazilian team.

“I’ve always said that the World Cup qualifiers are already the World Cup. Brazil and Bolivia play in Belém, Pará. I’ll be watching on Globo supporting the Brazilian team. But I confess that I’m feeling a bit like a fish out of water “, published Galvão, on Instagram, on Friday (8).

Galvão then continued: “Since 1974, it will be the first time that I am not directly linked to an event like this, to a broadcast, to being together with the team. It’s been 49 years, only from Globo 42 years since the 1982 World Cup to here”, he reflected and then added: “I’m feeling a little strange about having become a viewer. It’s very important in the life of a professional to be there commanding the Brazilian team’s broadcasts. I’m going to be a little sad.”

In the first match under the command of coach Fernando Diniz, the Brazilian team defeated Bolivia 5-1 at the Mangueirão stadium, in Belém, Pará, in the opening round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Rodrygo (2), Raphinha and Neymar (2) scored Brazil’s goals and Ábrego scored for the Bolivians.
