If you are nostalgic for the old, good iconic disco-pop music, if your comfort movie is Mamma Mia and of course if you are loyal fans of the iconic band Abba, you are in the right tribute. Now, you’ll be in the right place on Saturday 16 September if you’re at the Ellinikon Experience Park, where a celebration of the beloved group that marked the world’s pop will be held, starring the Abba Revival Band. Having now been established by the British “National Tribute Awards”, as “the best Abba Tribute Band”, they come to remind us of the greatness of the historic Abba, giving us a unique experience.

The truth is, we can’t wait to hear as many songs as possible, but (with great difficulty) we’ve chosen 10 and are sharing them with you.

  • Waterloo (1974)

We could not begin with any other song but the triumphant Waterloo. It was 1974 when Abba swept the Eurovision Song Contest and made the whole of Europe dance to their beats. Since then the Abba phenomenon would forever mark the global disco-pop scene, succeeding one success after another.

  • Mamma Mia (1975)

The characteristic sound of the kalimba at the beginning of the song is incomparable. Even those who don’t know the pop band (how many of you really are?) there’s no way they haven’t heard this song. In addition to the song becoming an instant No. 1 in the British charts, it is still one of the most famous and iconic songs in history. 33 years later, in fact, it becomes a movie with Meryl Streep and gives us an amazing and playful version of the song that we will hardly forget.

  • Lay All Your Love On Me (1981)

Don’t go wasting your emotion, go dance till you drop with Abba Revival Band, better. One of the best dance songs of all time, in an 80s mood this time, Lay All Your Love On Me is just what we need to feel like we’re floating above the ground. From the dozens of remixes, to the arrangements in the theater musicals and of course the 2008 movie, to the trend toy TikTok that lasted for many months, the success from their seventh album, “Super Trouper” is engraved in our hearts.

  • Don’t Shut Me Down (2021)

We’re doing a very quick fast-forward to 2021, where we found ourselves surprised in the best possible way. Abba surprised us by releasing the band’s ninth and last – according to Björn Ulvaeus – album entitled “Voyage”. The song gives us a unique feel, starting softly and continuing with an addictive disco beat. The band managed to take us back to the 70s and we can’t wait to hear it.

  • Chiquitita

Chiquitita you and I know… that this is one of Abba’s best songs. It is an ode to friendship and optimism. It was released in 1979 as the first single from the Voulez-Vous record. Despite the suffering suffered by Anni-Frid Lyngstad during the filming of the video clip due to the extreme weather conditions, the band managed to fervently convey the essential message behind the song with another uplifting tune.
