“I know that in my lifetime, as long as I’m here, I’m going to do everything I can to make the possibilities endless for where black queer people can go,” Lil Nas X said in an interview

The official screening was scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. in “Roy Thomson Hall”, one of the most important venues of TIFF. The documentary’s co-directors and editor arrived first on the red carpet, posing with fans lined up at the entrance. But as the night’s headliner, Lil Nas X, arrived in his car, organizers were told there had been a bomb threat and the artist was told to wait, according to Variety. “The threat was specifically aimed at the rapper because he’s a black gay artist,” a person who spoke to the outlet said.

In an interview ahead of the documentary’s premiere, Nas spoke to Variety about the impact he hopes the film will have on audiences, especially as it addresses issues of representation. “I know that in my lifetime, as long as I’m here, I’m going to do everything I can to make the possibilities endless for where black queer people can go,” Nas said.
