The sculpture Broken Chair, a chair with three legs, by Swiss artist Daniel Berset was installed in the Place des Nations in 1997 and was designed to highlight the impact of landmines on civilians in conflict zones.
In collaboration with the organization Handicap International, Saype painted a giant hand on a canvas of grass using chalk and charcoal. From above the hand is seen repairing the wooden “Broken Chair”.
“The idea was to paint a hand coming to mend the broken leg,” the artist, creator of All of us, told Reuters. “In my mind, this hand represents the whole world and that we can all get involved and help Handicap International in its fight,” he added.
