Actress Letícia Sabatella was diagnosed, at the age of 52, with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In an interview with Fantástico, this Sunday (17), the artist spoke about how this discovery is related to various perceptions she has had throughout her life.
“A lot of noise bothers me, it sounds like aggression,” she says. “I really like the touch, but if someone keeps rubbing one hand against the other for a long time… I’ll ask them to stop.”
According to Letícia, it was very difficult to fit in at school as a child, and she never understood why her classmates were separated. Throughout life, in some situations, hypersensitivity was something that attracted attention.
“Every time it exploded or something happened, there were always strong triggers. Either it had to do with tiredness or anxiety… but in those situations I really felt an injustice, but I wanted to not have reacted that way.”
To face this disorder, even without the diagnosis, the actress says that she always sought to study and train in different subjects, being often called by friends a “dreamer and idealist”. “In some situations, more abusive, she was even branded crazy.”
