The Educational & Social Actions of the National Opera invite musicians, experienced and amateurs, from different nationalities and musical genres to audition, with the aim of their participation in the already existing musical ensemble of the Intercultural Orchestra of the Hellenistic Greek Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Intercultural Orchestra was launched in 2018 and consists of musicians of various origins, musical backgrounds and experiences. The dominant idea of its creation is the ability of music to be a common place, as a core of equal meeting and interaction.

The aim of the project is to introduce the participants, as well as the listeners of the orchestra, to musical genres from different countries and eras, free improvisation and musical co-creation through educational processes of exchange and participation.

Its repertoire is particularly wide and extends from the traditional music of its members’ countries of origin to free improvisation, while it does not have a classical repertoire orientation and does not include classical musical works in its program.

Since its foundation until today, the Intercultural Orchestra has performed numerous concerts with great success in various venues, concert and non-concert, inside and outside the National Opera (ELS Alternative Stage, Piraeus Municipal Theatre, Byzantine and Christian Museum forecourt, Acropolis Museum in the context of the 1st Worship Music Festival of the Greek Orthodox Church).

Haris Lambrakis has been in charge of the Intercultural Orchestra since the beginning of the ensemble.

Expression of interest is done exclusively through the form you will find here.

The hearing will take place on September 29, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the SNFCC premises, 364 Syngrou Ave., 176 74 Kallithea.
