Presenter Fausto Silva was admitted again to Hospital Albert Einstein, in São Paulo, ten days after being discharged from a heart transplant. According to a medical bulletin released this Wednesday (20), he entered the unit to undergo post-heart transplant exams. “This is a routine protocol that assesses the functioning of the heart and whether there are signs of rejection”, says the bulletin.

Initially, Faustão was admitted to the hospital on August 5th for treatment of heart failure and dialysis. Fifteen days later, the need for a heart transplant was diagnosed.

On the 27th of the same month, he received the transplant and was discharged 13 days after the surgery. Faustão was recovering at home from the procedure. At the time, the bulletin released by the medical team accompanying the presenter said that he would continue “under the necessary medical and nutritional guidelines for rehabilitation after heart transplantation”.

After discharge, the presenter recorded a video talking about the second phase of treatment, which included another two or three months of physiotherapy for full recovery. He also thanked once again the family of donor Fábio Cordeiro da Silva: “I will never forget you. And one day I will thank you in person”, he said.

Fábio was a lowland football player and died at the age of 35 on August 26, victim of an ischemic stroke suffered while working as a tile worker in an apartment in the city of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo.
