A tour of Piraeus, through the “Neighborhoods on Piato”, reminds us of a time, not so far away, where grocers, mezedakis and “port-style” souvlaki dominated.

On Sunday September 24 at 17.00 on SKAI, Dimitris Skarmoutsos takes us on a journey to a romantic past full of flavors and treats.

Piraeus is one of the areas of Athens that still maintains an unparalleled authenticity and an atmosphere of another era.

At the corner of Gounari and Nikita, the pedestrian street with antique shops, “Giorgos” has been located for some time.

A small shop with a nice concept and a unique recipe. Nice handmade souvlaki, with fermented burger and fluffy pie.

In one of the most historic arcades of Piraeus, there is the “Pasturmazidiko of Avakian”!

Avakian is well versed in the art of pasturma and the secret recipe for the best suzuki. His name became synonymous with quality and today, a century later, the 4th generation has now taken over.

At the other end of the port, between shipping buildings, is the “Kitchen”.

It was the inspiration of two good friends, a chef and a bartender, who combined their knowledge, creating one of the freshest concepts of recent years.

At gate E2, the “Plastiras” canteen has been located for years. The owner and godfather of Nikolaos Plastiras, together with his wife Anna, have a small corner where they are said to cook the best pork chops in the area.

Returning to the studio, Dimitris Skarmoutsos prepares two delicious recipes: baked burrito with sausage and vegetables and juvetsi with mussels.
