After five years, Ana Furtado celebrates the end of breast cancer treatment: ‘It’s over!’

Ana Furtado, 49, used social media to celebrate the end of her treatment against breast cancer, with which she was diagnosed in 2018. The presenter published a video (check it out below) in which she appears alongside her husband, director Boninho , taking the last dose of medication.

“I made a point of ending this cycle alongside my love, best friend and great partner,” she wrote in the caption. “Last [comprimido de] tamoxifen! He finished! Until never more!”

Several followers, many of them famous, left messages joining in the celebration. “What a feeling, thank you for all the times you gave me a word of encouragement, you are a warrior”, wrote singer Preta Gil, who is also suffering from cancer — hers in the intestine.

Ana made her treatment public in May 2018, shortly after undergoing surgery to remove the tumor in her breast, in April of that year. At the time, she said that she had discovered the disease at an early stage. Since then, the presenter has been speaking openly about the different phases of her treatment, with the aim of encouraging her followers to carry out self-examination.

Next week, she will launch the book “Até Nunca Mais”, in which she narrates her experience with the disease. There will be autograph sessions on Monday (2) in São Paulo (at Livraria da Travessa in Shopping Iguatemi) and on Wednesday (4) in Rio (at Livraria Argumento in Leblon, in the south zone).

“It was 5 years of a journey that was not easy, but possible. A journey of desires, fears, victories, but, above all, of a lot of resilience, resistance and self-knowledge”, she commented on social media. “Sharing this experience and being able to show that no one is alone on this journey is the most important thing. If my testimony helps even one person, it’s all worth it.”
