British actress Julia Ormond is suing the film producer Harvey Weinsteinaccusing him of sexually assaulting her in 1995. The famous actress, who starred in films alongside Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford in the 1990s, said she was a “rising star” when she met Weinstein in 1994.

The two kept in touch and discussed scripts and projects, the actress said in her lawsuit, and struck a deal with Miramax, where Weinstein was co-chairman.

Harvey Weinstein, 71, has been in prison for rape and sexual assault since 2020, but was convicted of another rape last year. He has appealed both convictions.

Julia Ormond accused him of sexual assault, citing an incident in December 1995 after a meeting. The ‘Legends Of The Fall’ actress claims she told her then US agents, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), but received no support. Sues CAA, Walt Disney Co. and Miramax, accusing them of failing to stop him.

“The police have nothing to do with the case. “None of these prominent companies warned Ormond that Weinstein had a history of assaulting women because he was too important, too powerful, and making too much money,” the official documents state.

Ormond has previously spoken out about being sexually assaulted in Variety magazine, but this is the first time she has publicly accused Harvey Weinstein.

She filed the lawsuit in state Supreme Court in Manhattan under the Adult Survivors Act, which was passed last year to allow sexual assault complainants to file lawsuits after designated dates.

Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer said his client categorically denies the allegations made against him by Julia Ormond and is ready to vigorously defend himself.
