A modern narrative about coexistence is proposed by the group exhibition “Symbiotics”, which opens on Thursday, October 12 at the National Museum of Contemporary Art
The proposal of the curatorial team was selected through the process of the open invitation issued by the EMST in May 2023 for the submission of curatorial proposals for a group exhibition and is part of the Museum’s program of periodic exhibitions and activities. It is worth noting that it is the first time that a public body in Greece has issued an open invitation to curate an exhibition with absolutely professional conditions, such as the fair remuneration of all contributors and artists and the full technical support of the exhibition.
Artistic practices of femininity
The “Symbiotic” exhibition focuses on the process of communication, through artistic practices of femininity, in art. The works of four contemporary Greek visual artists are presented: Maria Varela, Chrysanthi Koumianaki, Karolina Krasouli and Christina Mitrentse, as well as the artistic group Phantom Investigations (Ino Varvaritis and Yiannis Delagrammatikas).
Compositions by Bia Davou, Nausika Pastra and Chrysa, from the EMST collection, complete the exhibition, the starting point of which, according to the curatorial team, was Bia Davou’s “Serial Structures 2 – Odyssey” project section .
