The Netflix’s “American Symphony.”which follows the award-winning Grammy and Oscar singer, John Baptisteas it prepares to perform at Carnegie Hall, garnered the most nominations for the 2023 Critics Choice Association Documentary Awards with six.

Among others, its director, Matthew Heinemanhe claims the award for Best Feature Documentary and Best Director.

The documentaries “20 Days in Mariupol” of PBS, “Kokomo City” of Magnolia Pictures and the “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie” Apple Original Films are in second place with five nominations each.

Other feature-length documentaries nominated for this year’s awards are: “Beyond Utopia” of Roadside Attraction, “The Eternal Memory” by MTV Documentary Films, “Judy Blume Forever” of Amazon, “The Mission” of National Geographic and “The Deepest Breath” and “Stamped from the Beginning” of Netflix.

A notable nomination in the category of music documentaries is “The Eras Tour” the big star, Taylor Swift for the pop star’s sold-out show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Steve McQueen is a candidate in Best Director category with his four hour and 22 minute documentary, “Occupied City” and Natalie Portman in the category of Best Narrative with the “Secrets of the Elephants” of National Geographic.

The 2023 Critics Choice Documentary Awards will be livestreamed via Facebook, YouTube and X (formerly Twitter) from the Edison Ballroom in New York on November 12.
