Sony Classical records Beethoven’s “Ninth” at the Concert Hall

by

Sony Classical selects the Athens Concert Hall for the recording of Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony” with the award-winning Theodoros Kourentzis and the MusicAeterna Orchestra & Choir.

The audio recording of Beethoven’s emblematic work will take place in the “Christos Lambrakis” hall, ie in a concert hall of excellent acoustics, well equipped for the implementation of such a demanding musical project, which for a week will be transformed into a recording studio by the workshop of the well-known record company. In fact, the technical team of Sony Classical is coming to Greece especially for this project and will record before the two concerts of the leading Greek chief musician at the Megaron on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 February (at 20:30).

The masterful vocal parts in “Ninth” are performed by four distinguished soloists: Birgitte Christensen (soprano), Sophie Harmsen (alto), Benjamin Bruns (tenor) and Johannes Kammler (bass). Two landmark concerts in the history of the Megaron. This is a fascinating reference recording.

Ticket prices: from 15 to 100 euros.
