Journalist Rachel Sheherazade explained the reasons why she was unable to purchase her own home with her salary while working at SBT. The issue was raised during the program “Selfie Service”, conducted by Lucas Selfie, this Friday (27).
The woman expelled from A Fazenda 15 stated that her financial situation was affected by a previous divorce, in which she and her then-husband were married under the community property regime. As a result, Rachel says she had to give up 50% of her assets, including the house she owned, which was transferred to her ex-spouse.
“And what I was left with [do divórcio] it was the savings I had made for myself and my children and from that savings I have lived to this day, not only to support my children, but I am the provider for my mother, who is retired, lives on a minimum wage, and from my brother George, who is a person who has a disease, which is multiple sclerosis (…) So, all the savings I had went to support myself and my entire family”, she explained.
She highlighted that the division of assets was determined by the courts, and her journalistic career was interrupted two years ago. On Tuesday (24), the journalist went viral when she said that she would not have been able to buy a house – even with information that she had a salary of R$200,000 at SBT.
“That was the salary that appeared to the public, but it wasn’t the amount that actually went into the account. The salary I received was more for my livelihood, I managed to save something, which went towards my children’s education. Nothing more that it.”
