Two years without Marília Mendonça (1995-2021). Just like the singer’s fans, the duo Maiara and Maraisa remember their friend every day, who died in a plane crash near Caratinga, in Minas Gerais, where she was giving a show. In the early hours of this Sunday (5), Maiara told how she deals with grief.
“I’m still sorry… It’s something that is still in the body, there are still traumas, there are still some triggers. But, God knows all things”, said the singer, who makes a point of mentioning the word gratitude to refer to the friendship of many years with Marília Mendonça
“Marília was a wonderful woman and we are very grateful to have lived the best of this life with her. They were wonderful moments and we are learning to give new meaning to everything”, he explained to Splash backstage at the duo’s show at Caldas Country.
Maiara also highlighted the support that she and Maraisa received from friends at the time of the tragedy with the queen of suffering. For the singer, time is still the best medicine to overcome the pain of losing a loved one. “One day the grief will pass, but we will never forget the love we have for her, one day it will become a good feeling. If someone is going through this, don’t feel alone, it’s difficult for us too. But we will always take the best and she is certainly in a wonderful place”, he added.
At the beginning of October, the Civil Police of Minas Gerais concluded the investigation into the case. According to investigations, the pilots acted recklessly and negligently, as they were not aware of the characteristics of the region before beginning their descent, which needs to be done in the case of landing without the assistance of a control tower.
In addition to the singer, the pilot, Geraldo Medeiros, the co-pilot, Tarcísio Pessoa Viana, the singer’s uncle and advisor, Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho, and the producer Henrique Ribeiro, died in the accident.
The pilots were charged with manslaughter, when there is no intention to kill. As they died, the investigation will be sent to the Court with a recommendation for archiving, according to the police.
