For the first time, Christmas songs have made an earlier appearance in the UK top 40 chart, which according to the Guardian, will remain until the beginning of 2024.

The timeless successes, “Last Christmas” by Wham and “All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Careyare already at No. 37 and No. 40 respectively.

According to the Official Charts Company, this event is a record breaking last year, when Carey’s famous song released in 1994 entered the charts for the first time in the third week of November.

‘Last Christmas’, released on 3 December 1984 and peaking at number two, was written in George Michael’s childhood bedroom, while the £60,000 music video was shot in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. It has appeared every year since 2008, peaking in January 2021 after 36 years.

In the summer of 1994, the famous singer and Walter Afanasyeff wrote one of the most popular Christmas songs ever written for the star’s first holiday album, “Merry Christmas”.

The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” talks about a girl’s only wish to spend Christmas with her lover. It climbed to the top for the first time in December 2020, some 26 years after its release.
