The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro is investigating the attack against fashion designer Marcos Lerroy, one of the luxury stars of the samba school Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel.
According to information from the association, he was attacked at the door of the house where he lives, on Sunday morning (26), by an app driver. Witnesses stated that Lerroy may have been a victim of homophobia.
The designer is admitted to the Getúlio Vargas State Hospital, in Penha, north of Rio.
This Tuesday (28), he underwent surgery to remove a kidney, with the aim of controlling internal bleeding.
“The operation took place in the best possible way and our independent company is in a stable situation at the moment, in constant evolution”, says a note released by Mocidade. “We are grateful for all the positive currents and now we hope that Lerroy can return to his room and continue his hospital discharge process”, adds the samba school.
The case was registered at the 24th Police Station, in Piedade, also in the north of Rio. The police said they are looking for witnesses and information to identify the suspect in the attack and find out what happened.
Mocidade Independente promises to demand answers from the authorities for what happened.
The school will talk about cashew at Carnival 2024. The plot “Ask for cashew and I give it… Cashew tree gives it” will cover the stories, legends and curiosities of the cashew fruit.
