American singer Brenda Lee’s legendary Christmas hit ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ topped the Billboard Hot 100, 65 years after its release, displacing the equally timeless “Christmas carol”, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” by Mariah Carey.

It is noted that in recent years the song reached the second place of the Billboard Hot 100.

The famous singer, who is one of the few inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Hall of Fame, told Variety she was “delighted” and justified this year’s first place.

I have wonderful people at my company…who have worked hard for me. And I have wonderful fans who have been with me since the first moment I opened my mouth to sing. They have stayed with me, they are faithful and I am more happy for them than for mehe said.

The famous song ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ was written by Johnny Marks and the singer recorded it at the age of 13, shortly after signing with Decca Records.

This year, for the song’s 65th anniversary, the official music video was released for the first time, and according to NPR it has garnered over 8 million views on TikTok.

As for “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Brenda Lee describes it as a major obstacle to reaching the top.

But you know something, if something is above you you want it to be good. And it isLee, who turns 79 on December 11, concludes to Variety.
