Agency that manages Alexandre Pires’ career dismisses businessman and says he was ‘a service provider’

by

Preventively arrested on Monday (4) by the Federal Police for alleged involvement in an illegal mining scheme in the Ianomâmi Indigenous Land, Roraima, Matheus Possebon was removed from Opus Entretenimento. On Wednesday night (6), the company sent a note informing the businessman’s dismissal and denied his participation as a partner in the agency.

“Matheus Possebon acted as a service provider in the organization of shows, tours and career management, without participation in the company’s partnership. And, until due clarification, he is removed from the company’s activities”, says the statement.

The company, also responsible for managing the careers of other artists such as Daniel, Maurício Manieri, Seu Jorge, Munhoz & Mariano and Ana Carolina, among others, claims to be unaware of any irregular activities carried out by people linked to Opus and reinforces that it is not mentioned in Operação Disco PF Gold Award.

Investigated in the operation that investigates the existence of a money laundering scheme involving illegal mining on indigenous lands, Alexandre Pires deleted the businessman’s name from Instagram. Possebon appeared on the pagodeiro’s profile as “manager” until Monday (4), but on Tuesday (5), the name disappeared.

Alexandre Pires’ defense informed that he “does not have and has never had any involvement with mining or mineral extraction, much less in an indigenous area”. There is a suspicion that Possebon is a silent partner in a mining company and has transferred almost R$1.4 million to Alexandre Pires in a money laundering scheme. The organization has generated around R$250 million in recent years.

The operation was launched by the PF this Monday (4) to investigate the illegal exploitation of cassiterite from the Yanomami Indigenous Land, Roraima and money laundering through illegal mining. Matheus Possebon and the owner of Betser, Christian Costa dos Santos, were arrested. The singer had his cell phone seized and is still free.
